Tower proposal rejected!

The board voted to reject T-Mobile's proposal to build a cell tower by the water tanks or by The Club. The vote was 3 to reject, 2 not to reject, and one principled abstention (the Director works for a communications company and reasonably chose not to vote on this issue).

Public comment was overwhelmingly opposed to building a tower near the water tanks. It was suggested that NT did not have a flagpole and that no one could object to a flagpole. Residents said they could be against a tower disguised as a flagpole and still be patriotic. Two boards members reported that the tower/flagpole on the HBU ball field was not attractive. The fact is that there are three flagpoles in front of The Club on Walker School Rd. The surrounding trees have grown so the flags are hard to see from.

  1. I was in attendance and was at awe with the turnout from area residents. That being said, we cannot rest on this victory. We must root out those who were for this albatross and oust them in the next election. Furthermore, that Neighborhood Rep from Walker Station needs to go! He was insulting to those who live in and around Robinson’s Landing.

  2. It is vital that people stay connected so that future hotels are not built behind Greystone and cell towers are not built on top of other neighborhoods. If we do not have our neighbor’s back, we cannot expect them to have our back. That is the security and structure of a real community, not necessarily an HOA community. http://www.newterritorysentinel.com/index.html

An HOA is a vendor led organization. We must connect to oppose it when we must, and change it as we can. Thank you Telfair for organizing in a shared effort for justice and neighborliness.

  3. It's good to see the Telfair and NT communities getting much more organized and involved. Through events like this you will come to see much about our local political arena which begins at the HOA level that appears stacked against individual homeowners and small businesses. Get involved and do your homework. It will pay off in the long run!
